Alarmists (Updated) 8

Opie caught it. I’ve been had.

Howsomever, I stand by my comment, visible when you click the comments link.

And to honor my captor and to savor my humiliation, I shall not remove the post (however much I should like to), though I have taken it off the front page.

You can read it in all its blustering credulousness here.

But one day I’ll see Phillybits at Drinking Liberally (tomorrow and every Tuesday, Tangier, 18th and Lombard, one block north of South Street, Philadelphia) and put Ipecac in his beer.

And it was really well-done.

I take consolation in this:

The writing was not wasted. The Current Federal Administration will certainly give me a chance to use it again.

Um, Frank, please bear in mind the date of Phillybits’ post…

And don’t feel too bad; I actually spent about five minutes checking it out myself before it hit me.

Yeah, well, I’ve been fooled before. And I’m always behind the times.

But the sick thing is, given the conduct of the subjects in question, it’s believable.

Maybe it is like this story.

    BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I might be seeing you tomorrow, actually.

That is…if you’re going to DL. I’m probably going to be there tomorrow but I’ll email you tomorrow for confirmation.

And we can talk about that Ipecac then, too.

I smelled a rat immediately because Bush would have the support of absolutely nobody in such a pursuit. In about one minute of googling, the last time I could find Cheney speaking at Camp Lajeune was in 2005. In the second minute, his official website listed recent speeches and made no mention of anything like Philly’s post. In the third minute I was at Camp Lajeune’s website, about to call them on my cell phone, when I decided to go back to Philly’s site and see if he mentioned an exact date, and that’s when the date of the post hit me.

I saw this on the 2nd (was having password issues at that time) & wondered about it. Not enough to check it out though.

But, if you think about it, he would try to say he wasn’t elected the 2nd time because of the court battle. I wouldn’t put it past him to try it.

It seems that the Times lacks a sense of humor. The link, alas, is no more . . . .

This should have twigged me to it. The link is to the newyourketimes.

But, you are right. The Times has no sense of humor.

The story, probably apochryphal goes that, some years ago, the New York Times had an article about West Point, in which they referred to the “humorless” cadets.

The cadets responded by writing a letter to the editor in which they said, inter alia, “How can a newspaper with no comics dare accuse anyone else of being humorless?”

“but after Bush came up 660,000 votes short in the popular vote, and had to be installed in the White House by a 5-4 Supreme Court decision”

Does he have the audicity to try again, since he wasn’t elected?
